Lirone

The lush harmonies created by the lirone or lyra da gamba form the ideal grounding for the Italian and French vocal repertoire of the early baroque.

This lirone, adapted from a tenor/bass instument by Gasparo Bertolotti (da Salo) has twelve fingered strings, without bourdons, at a comfortable playing length of 54 cm.

Lirone after Gasparo da Salo.
